INTRODUCTION


In the Winter of 2001, I began teaching a course at Stanford University entitled "Critical Issues in International Women's Health." Since that time, I have taught the course twice a year, put it online as a massive open online course, and written a text for the courses (From Outrage to Courage). I firmly believe that what we do is important but the way we do it is more important, so I offer below information about the courses, as well as a sample syllabus and some thoughts about teaching that I have found useful in the past fifteen years at Stanford.
